Two wooden kneelers communicating from bank to bank.
Reconsidering the Arno River and its memory through an art installation.
Lisa Batacchi resumes the ancient tradition of washing clothes in the river in order to make spectators reassess domestic and/or unpaid work and everyday life as a moment not restricted to an intimate sphere. The project was thought to bring attention to the Arno River as a common good where one can listen and discover a relationship with others in a spontaneous way. Two wooden kneelers will be used as devices to talk from one bank to another, establishing extemporaneous relationships thanks to a simple system placed underwater
Please join us for the opening night with cocktails offered by our partner, Zenzero Bio-Catering. For the second and third day the artist invites the public to bring food from home in order to eat together on the banks of the river at sunset
Made possible through the contribution of Estate Fiorentina 2014.
